Inked Creations by Sam

I started this blog a few weeks ago, not really having any other intentions other than simply sharing my triumphs and failures living as a young working wife who practically survived using pinterest lol! A lot of things have been happening in my life all at once lately... my best friend had her son, my sister in law had her daughter, my husband is nearing the end of his contract with the U.S. Army, and I'm about to apply for a annual salary job for the first time in my life... With all these new firsts, that means a lot of announcements in the mail, so I was busily photo editing some adorable pictures of my niece and nephew mainly for fun. My sister in law decided to use the ones I did for her as her announcements, she loved them so much. I was more than flattered, and was sharing the news with my mother who then gave me the brilliant idea of making a small business for myself, and sell my edits!
So, for those of you who have been following my blog, you might have noticed the name change. This is officially my new business and I am taking orders immediately! Please contact me through my Facebook page for details and pricing. I will have a small portfolio up shortly!

Starbucks Secret Recipe: Oreo Frappuccino

YUM!!

Pineapple Salsa Chicken

I have finally decided to dive into the Crock Pot World!!

I browsed through pinterest before I came across this delicious recipe...
http://thefrugalgirls.com/2013/10/crockpot-pineapple-salsa-chicken-recipe.html

I continued to browse through The Frugal Girls blog (which is one of my most favorite blogs), wrote up my grocery list and dragged the hubby to the store!

The Crock pot Pineapple Salsa Chicken caught my eye in particular because my husband could probably eat his weight in pineapples and in salsa and I decided to pair this recipe with white rice (also hubby's favorite). The only thing I did different from the given recipe from the link above, was cut the recipe serving size in half, since its just my hubby and I. This dish was more than just amazing! This Crock pot recipe is definitely a pinerest WIN!

What you'll need and the recipe measurements for a dinner for two are...
-Smucker's Pineapple preserves, 9 oz.
-Chunky salsa, 8 oz.
-Chicken, 2-3 boneless, skinless breast
-Crock pot
-Crock pot bag *optional

What you need to do is...
-Cook Chicken in crock pot for 3 hours
-After 3 hours, drain juices and mix salsa and pineapple preserves
-Pour mixture into crock pot
-Cook on HIGH for 30 minutes
-Serve on a bed of rice and ENJOY!

DIY Blackberry Icing Sugar Scrub

As usual, I was browing pinterest for a DIY gift idea and stumbled upon several DIY sugar srubs that seemed simpleand decided to try it out. I took a few different recipes and came up with my own for my own personal preferences. IT WAS LOVE AT FIRST SCRUB! I just had to share this wonderful gift idea that any friend or family member would love. My mom and mother-in-law loved their's! This Blackberry Icing Recipe I made as a birthday gift for a friend of mine.
For the jar I recycled a candle I had gotten from Walmart. To get any extra wax from the old candle out I boiled water and poured it into the jar, almost filling it. I normally would leave it over night and the water will melt the extra wax and it will rise to the top and dry ontop of the water. Then you just pull the wax out and wash jar.

All you need is 4 ingredients (5 is you choose to use food color for pretty presentation).
2 cups Granulated Sugar
1 cup Coconut oil
1 tbsp lemon juice
10 drops of Blackberry Essential oil
20 drops of Vanilla Essential oil
3 drops purple food coloring (optional)

Step 1: Mix all ingredients into mixing bowl all together, stir until throughly mixed.
Step 2: Spoon mixture into jar
Step 3: Seal jar with lid and put into freezer for 20 minutes
Step 4: Take jar out and fluff sugar scrub mixture. I personally with spoon it back into the bowl to stir, it will be a little hard.
Step 4: Decorate jar with ribbon. Another idea is to add a tag with the Sugar Scrub scent on it.
Step 5: Spoon sugar scrub back into jar.

Keep in area under 75 degrees, if mixture melts and the ingredients separate just put back into freezer for 15-20 mintues.

Starbucks Secret Recipe: Cake Batter Frapp

This recipe is for a venti, do the same for a grande. For a Tall do only 1 pump of toffee nut and 1 pump of hazelnut. Definitely getting this for every birthday!

Cute and easy up-do for Summer ♥

This braided bun is one of my favorite summer hairstyles! This style keeps my long hair off my neck and out of my face of those hot summer days. You can easily dress up this hairstyle with a flower clip!

Step One: Start to french braid from the very front of your hair. Once you get to the back of your head, take a ponytail holder, gather the rest of your loose hair into a ponytail.

Step Two: Braid ponytail to the very end.

Step Three: Twist the braid into a bun and secure with bobby pins.

Step Four: Gently tug on small sections for a more voluminous bun and hairspray!

In the comments I have left the link to the YouTube video I used to learn how to fench braid my own hair.

Disney Themed "Mani in a Jar"

For Christmas of 2013, my husband and I were running on a very tight gift budget mainly because most of our money had to be spent traveling between both families for the holidays and since we are both from a VERY big families our gift list was 25 people long! So I took on the task of doing all homemade gifts. Seems impossible right? Especially when you work a full time job that also requires you to travel (sometimes even out of state). I started to think it was a bad idea half way through myself! But where there is a will theres a way!

One of the easier DIY gifts I did was "Mani in a jar". I found several different ways and ideas for this DIY gift on Pinterest and these are very customizable for any occasion. I made some for my sister-in-laws and one for my best friend.  I also wanted each one to be personalized so it didnt seem like they were all getting the same gifts, so I decided to pick a disney character for each girl and they turned out very cute! I ended up getting most of the supplies and jar contents I need at Dollar General, including the mason jars, and I only spent $5 on each "Mani in a Jar".

Here's what you will need...
-Mason jar
-paint
-ribbon
-sharpies

...and here are the "Mani in a jar" contents...
-10 cotton balls
-4 q-tips
-nail filer
-nail clippers
-2 color coordinating nail polish
...and you can add other things to personalize more like nail designs, nail pens, etc.

Starbucks secret Recipe: Cotton Candy Frappuccino

This is one of my personal favorites!

A little project to make your coffee storage a little bit snazzier ;)

For the past 2 months now I have been pretty much stuck in the couch due to a knee injury I got while snow boarding. Since im normally a VERY active person, im having to find outher ways than work and the gym to burn my energy. Here's a recycled pickle jar project I did...

All you need is a clean pickle jar, paint, paint brushes, modge podge (to seal it and keep the paint from flaking later on.),  and rubber bands!

Hello there...

Hi, I'm Sam and I am a 24 year old tattooed, coffee addicted, pinterest junkie. I have been married to my high school sweetheart for 5 adventurous years and we have 3 wonderful pups. We have done quite a bit of traveling in our young lives due to both our jobs. My husband, Cris, is an Infantryman in the Army and has been for 5 and half years. I am a sales manager and trainer for a meat company. The Army has sent us to Anchorage, Alaska and then to El Paso, Texas. My job sends me all over the U.S. from Seattle, Washington to San Antonio, Texas throughout each month. I wanted to start this blog because my husband, Cris, and I are about to embark on a new chapter in our lives as he will be reaching the end of his 6 year contract with the Army, as an Infantryman. He has decided to not re-enlist, so we will be preparing to transition to civilian lives and move back to our hometown, Dallas, TX. We are both very much looking forward to this transition but we also know we will be taking on alot of 'firsts' for us, since all we have known our entire 5 years of marriage was the military life. As excited we are, we are also just as anxious and a little nervous to see what the future holds for us especially given the fact that our lives have NEVER been dull or boring. Just follow along to find out what trials and triumphs await us in the near future. -Sam
